# Company knowledge, organized by AI agents and owned by you.

CoDNA is the knowledge base your people and their AI agents share. Ask Claude, ChatGPT or any agent that speaks MCP, and it looks in CoDNA, seeing exactly what you can see and nothing more.

CoDNA comes from ცოდნა, Georgian for *knowledge*: the Company DNA your AI works from.

## Where your agent looks first

People ask their agent now, and the agent needs somewhere trustworthy to look. CoDNA is an MCP server that Claude, ChatGPT and other clients connect to. The agent searches what you can read, cites the page it used, and writes what it learns back where people can see it.

- **Exactly your permissions.** An agent signs in as the person it works for. A page that person can't read doesn't exist for the agent.
- **The things a person can do.** Search, read, write, edit one section, share, move, look back through history and undo.
- **Sources you can check.** Material comes in as it was given, and the wiki links back to it, so an answer can show where it came from.

## Evidence, knowledge, and the work in between

Every document lives in one of three spaces. The split decides who writes there, whether an agent may rewrite in place, and what search offers first.

### Source material

Uploads, pasted text, transcripts, whole folders of PDFs, Word files, HTML and CSV. Kept as it came: never edited, only superseded.

wiki

### What we know

Curated pages, distilled from raw material or written directly. What people read, and what an agent searches first.

output

### Work for a task

Reports, drafts and answers made for a particular task. Disposable by design: deleting one never loses knowledge.

## Written and read by people too

The web app is for the people who'd rather read and edit by hand. Click into a page where you want to change it: the markdown shows only around the cursor, / turns a line into a heading, a list, a table or a link to another page, and what's stored stays plain markdown.

One search, folders that open as pages, history that restores any version, and an inbox that asks only what needs an answer. In light and dark, on a phone, and from the keyboard.

## Share a page, and what it depends on

Pages link to each other. When you share one, CoDNA follows its links and offers the pages the other person will need too. You choose, and a suggestion you turn down isn't raised again.

Nothing is public by default. A new page is visible to the person who wrote it, until they share it with someone, a group, or everyone here.

## Rules that keep happening

Ask your agent to write one: share everything tagged `runbook` with the ops team, or remind owners about pages nobody has reviewed in six months. Scripts run when something changes or on a schedule.

They run in a sandbox with no network and hard limits, and they only *propose*: CoDNA checks every action against what the script's author is allowed to do. A script can never see or grant more than the person who wrote it.

## Owned by you

### Plain markdown

Every page is markdown with YAML frontmatter. An export is a folder of files you can open anywhere, not a proprietary dump.

### Nobody sees everything

There are no administrators. People see what they wrote and what's shared with them. Running an instance never means reading it.

### Single sign-on

People and their agents sign in with OpenID Connect, through the same identity provider.

### Open source soon

We'll publish the core under the Apache-2.0 license, so you can read it, run it and change it.

## Hosted, or on your own servers

### Hosted by us

Your own instance at **yourteam.codna.me**, run and upgraded for you. The tools we run it with can't open your pages.

- An instance of your own, not a shared one
- Upgrades applied for you
- Early access: we set up each team by hand

### On your own servers

The same CoDNA, run by you: one small binary with Postgres and Typesense. It never calls home.

- Docker Compose, Kubernetes with Helm, or systemd on a VM
- Your identity provider, over OpenID Connect
- Apache-2.0 once the source is out

## Start with what your team already knows

We're opening CoDNA to a small number of teams. Tell us a little about yours, or ask the assistant first: it answers from CoDNA's own public pages.
